Although I’m usually the one to say “Don’t rush them, let them perfect it”, I have to agree with you. At this point I’d be happy to play an extremely buggy version that would blow up my computer after about 30 minutes.

Let’s not talk about Starbound’s release date. I don’t care if they release it soon or late, because since they seems so serious about it, I know it will be released someday.

I guess language will not be a big problem as these types of games doesn’t have too many dialogues or written story (if it follows survival/open world games like minecraft or terraria)
And I’m very sure it will be some kind of unnoficial translation made by fans
I’ve heard that Starbound will have much more Story than Terraria did, as in any amount of Story at all. ;)
Russian would like to have translated into the native language. French, Italians, Germans and other Europeans think, too, would like to transfer into their own languages. many work, isn’t it? Propose to leave open source language, so handyman translate game into native languages.

f..k this ! We all want a release date, or something like that, not a crappy artwork for November you published it December !!!! Damn it, like impulsive zombie, i was like “don’t ask release, give them the time they need blablahblah” but now, I really want the date, we don’t give a f..k to the Boooooring interview who’s totally pointless, since we don’t play wanderlust and no more players are on multiplayer mode ! (no really there is nobody on the server….) Is it too much to give the date ? Is it too much to deserve us what we are all about to buy ? damn it ! Yes, I DID state that I was a tad impatient…but Chucklefish doesn’t deserve to be slung random abuse, you know. They’re doing what they can, but at the same time the fans are getting twitchy, I know that, but this is still a very large project if you were to compare it to Terraria. What I was trying to say is that they push it towards release a tiny bit faster but I didn’t demand for it right now. Just sit back and play Borderlands, for crying out loud. (I appreciate the shout-out, btw. :D)

bro. they don’t have an exact release date. if they set an exact date, and something comes up, they’ll either have to be like “hey, guess what? you get to wait longer, yay!” and then everybody’s going to be pissed, or they’ll have to rush it and half-ass it. patience is a virtue. these guys are making an incredible game (I’m guessing) and seem to be doing more than any other group has done for a game. they’re actually giving a shit about it and not just being like “give us your money.”
I would kind of rather you didn’t play this game at all. The last thing we need are angry, abusive, thoughtless players.
The game will get made. I’m sure it won’t be longer than a year from now. If a year is a long time for you, then just wait, eventually a year will be nothing. Also, are there really no other games you can play? I have a backlog of probably 100 games. Sure I still check the starbound site on a daily basis, and I will put all other games on hold when starbound comes out, but I am not going to act as though they are ruining my life by not releasing the game right this second.
I think you need to take some time to mature, and think about what you say. Also, a very talented artist made this wallpaper for free. So don’t spam the comments with profanity and hate, it is senseless and very immature.

Idea for the next Wallpaper: I’ve read the Thread that shows Tiy revealing the Playable Races’s Set Bonuses for their Armor, & some people seem to need help appreciating how cool the Robot’s Bonus, ‘+Mining Speed’ is… so I got a funny idea to make a Wallpaper showing a bunch of Hydrotls (with Underwater Breathing Set Bonus in play) giving them easy ability to make a Secret Base under a large Lake, (at bottom of the Wallpaper) then show a bunch of Robots at the Upper-Side(s) at the Lake’s Edges using their +Mining Speed Bonus to dig up lots of Dirt & Rocks & chop lots of Wood & stuff like this, & throw it into the Lake to bury the Underwater Base much faster then the Hydrotls below can fix it, just to Troll the Hydrotls! The Robots should be in merriment while they’re at this! XD

Look, it’s nice yall are working so hard to ensure a great game is released for us. But you did make some promises that is making the general public dissatisfied with your Business Model. here’s how you can please your fans, and those who generally want to support your game. Do a debug scan. Fix any and all Critical and Major bugs. Fix some Minor Bugs, then release the game to the world in an Open Beta. Perhaps even for a small price, $3-$5 at most. Let the world do your Beta Testing. I believe you will find that the world will find your bugs and exploit them. Create a Reddit section or a Wikia, on your game and sit back and watch the flood of bug finds come in from every angle. You will also see a multitude of exploits happen. You can then just patch all future bug fixes, and if you wanna add in a new race, include it with the patch. Just make it known that they will not be present in any “World” that is “Pre-” That patch.
I don’t think they need people telling them how to run their business…
Tiy has stated several times why it’s a Closed Beta.
Summarily: It’s to avoid a repeat of the Terraria fiasco, which apart from the small price of entry is exactly the conditions you prescribed that lead to it.
Where can I read more about this fiasco? I thought Terraria was a success!
It was a success, but it almost wasn’t.
The original Terraria forums have most of the story, and you can find it in a few other places, but basically back in April of 11′, Terraria was in Beta Mode when some of the testers started posting Lets Plays of the beta on Youtube (this is in fact how I learned about Terraria).
Eventually, one of the testers put the beta out on torrents, and once Re-Logic learned about that, they were basically forced to release Terraria to Steam right there and then (I recall purchasing the 4-pack Memorial Day weekend; mere days after its launch).
Tiy was of course one of the graphics designers for Terraria, and the close-knit Beta for Starbound is the direct result of the lessons learned.
Thank you, makes sense. I am still playing Terraria to date, and I am sorry that the development was cancelled. But if Starbound is going to be anything as fun as Terraria was I will definitely purchase that one too.
Personally, and I’m guessing here, I think that Tiy wasn’t satisfied with how Terraria ended. I’m guessing behind-the-scenes conflict, because he went to work immediately on Starbound very shortly after the only major patch (1.1) for Terraria launched.
Two months later, Terraria basically died because of very head-scratching reasons indeed. I can see SLOWING the rate of production, but ending it outright puzzles me (and left a *lot* of Terraria players angry).
Either way. Terraria was and is great, and I am waiting for Starbound. Hopefully that one is going to turn out mutually satisfying.
What promises? The only thing they promised not to do is an open beta. Also they promised not to give a hard release date until they were sure it was done.
The closest to a hard release date they’ve ever given is “it’ll be done when it’s finished”. Sure Tiy has said “maybe this summer” or “maybe end of year”. This isn’t a community funded project. They don’t have to release it on a time frame other than their own (which is why they don’t want to accept money until it is finished).
Go pick up some $5 games on steam sales and tide yourself over. It will be released eventually, and it will be the best that they can do.
They said December, they meant December. Calm down ladies.

I would like to get it before christmas. But honestly I’d prefer the version they want us to have rather than a buggier more rushed version. Honestly, good things come to those who wait.
When it comes out, it will be perfect, that is all. Be patient. It takes a small team a LONG time to perfect a game. Once it comes out you will all love it and appreciate all the TLC they put into it

You know what, when Tiy twittered there’s cooking in Starbound, I seriously took this $1 bill I left on my desk… and threw it at my monitor. I missed twice (try throwing a flat piece of paper), hit it with the third try and got it on top with the fourth try. The dollar’s still there.
Yeah, $1′s symbolically shallow (I’d pay $20 out of my own pocket for this) but I still, seriously, THREW money. At the monitor.

Well, they might post something good on Christmas Day. Because giving is good on Christmas, right?
Please avoid raging… If you like them so much, avoid making them mad, or it might never some out!
As anxious as I am for the release, I’m appreciative about the fact that they take the time to post wall papers and other status updates.
I’m willing to wait however long they feel is necessary to make the game to their level of perfection.
The last thing I want is a bass load of hype just for the game to be rushed in ANY aspect and to have that part sub-par.
“Patience is a virtue” (I know that saying is overused but it’s true).
To the developers, programmers, artists, musicians and all others working on this game,
I think it’s awesome that you have been able to ignore all the pressure to release a beta or what have you, that’s associated with a project of this magnitude. Keep on doing what you think is best for your project and ignore all the raging, it’s those people who will be the first to complain about something being amiss, a small detail being “wrong”, or whatever.
One more thing, when you release your full game; release a demo, whether it be content limited, time limited or whatever. It’ll help bring more people to your game and possibly lower the piracy rate of it.

To everyone waiting for a release date confirmation. Here is a leak for you. Are you ready? When Its Done! I hope these guys take all the time they need to perfect this game. You all have no idea what goes into game developement. Its not just something you can cobble together in a short amount of time. Even if you do promise a release date, it can and almost always will be pushed due to set backs for whatever reason. These people do have a real life. and its close to holidays anyways. They’ll be spending time with family and what not. If your that anxious for Starbound, go play Terraria. Its still a fantastic game. I’m excited about Starbound like everyone else, but no one is helping by whining about a release date.

You should release the wallpapers in 2560 x 1440. Or at least In 1280 x 720.
Are you even still working on this game? Haven’t read any dev updates in months. I even bought that buggy piece of junk wanderlust to speed things up. A little transparency goes a long way toward placating your future fans.
