[STABLE] Glad Giraffe Hotfix + Dev Blog!

Hello!

A hotfix was pushed today for a very specific issue.

  • If your game crashed between completion of one quest and pressing the button to accept another quest, it could make you unable to complete the main quest line. Now it doesn’t do that!

Shortest changelog ever!

image_2015-12-16_16-59-57With Glad Giraffe, we temporarily removed the ability to capture monsters because the system wasn’t quite working properly and we needed a bit more time to get it up to scratch. Currently, you can only capture critters. But this is changin’! Here’s how:

  • You’ll be able to tell your capture pods apart! Capture pod tooltips will contain information about the monster inhabiting them.
  • Craft capture pods at the capture pod station, and heal your pet at the pet healing station.
  • You don’t need to kill your pet to put it back in its capture pod! You can instead throw the same capture pod again to recall the pet.

^ One for @TheStrangeLog, I think.

[STABLE] Glad Giraffe Update 2

Good morning!

We’re releasing a small stable patch this morning that should fix a few bugs. Here’s a list of changes:

  • Fix bug with muzzle flash lights staying on in guns
  • Make sure new characters start in a system with a desert and forest planet
  • Fix bug where monsters would be aggressive even if spawned as non-aggressive
  • Make NPCs fire in shorter bursts, even at higher levels
  • Fixed broken merchant quest

Comments aren’t working properly at the moment, so post your comments here!

[STABLE] Glad Giraffe is here!

The combat update is finally here! As in, it’s out! Right now! Go play it! Or, if you’re still waiting for Starbound to update, why not check out the trailer?

A few notes:

  • Your existing characters and worlds should be more or less intact, but as usual, you will need to start a fresh universe or explore far-off systems in order to experience some of the new content.
  • If you are running any Starbound mods, they may be incompatible with the latest version of Starbound. I’d recommend backing up your existing characters before launching the game!
  • In fact, backing up your existing characters in an Early Access game is never a bad idea.

ATTN Modders! We’ve put a comprehensive tutorial up on the wiki describing how to create new missions in Tiled!

As always, click ‘read more’ for the changelog. :)
