HALFWAY by Robotality!

Happy Tuesday, guys! I’ve got some more exciting publishing news– last one for a bit, actually, but it’s exciting stuff!

Halfway is a turn-based strategy RPG taking place a few hundred years into the future. Humanity has branched out and begun to colonise new worlds and until now, they were alone.

In Halfway, you take control of a small team of survivors faced with a violent invasion onboard the colonial vessel Goliath. As their leader, you will guide them through the dark and cramped corridors of the ship in an effort to reclaim control of your ship.

If you have any hope of surviving, you’ll need to fight for your life, face your fears and outsmart the enemy!

Halfway will be released on Steam and Humble Store next Tuesday, 22 July 2014 for Windows, Mac and Linux with modding support in the form of a campaign editor coming out soon after release. The game will cost $12.99/£9.99 with a -10% launch discount. Go check out their new website and participate in discussion over on their new forums. :)

Key Features

  • Tactical turn-based battles are at the core of Halfway. Use cover, position, equipment and skills to your advantage in your battles.
  • Unique characters: Your team is formed of unique characters you pick up along the way. Each one of them brings their own story, skills and experiences to the journey.
  • Find yourself in the middle of an engrossing story-line. Step by step you’ll uncover the mysterious events that took place and what it means for you and all of humanity.
  • Mod support coming soon! Map and campaign editor soon to be released.

Halfway was developed by Robotality– an independent game development studio founded at the beginning of 2013 and consisting of two brothers, Simon and Stefan Bachmann. They’ve worked together for the last year and a half to produce a fantastic (and gorgeous!) strategy game. Check out the launch trailer:

Lenna’s Inception Beta is live!

Good morning guys!

We’re happy to announce that we’re publishing Lenna’s Inception by Bytten Studio, and the beta goes live today!

Lenna’s Inception is an action-adventure game with procedurally generated locations. It has a Gameboy-like aesthetic and a top-down view. The gameplay consists of action-driven combat segments, seeking out new items and upgrades, and solving simple puzzles. The game features:

  • Huge procedurally generated world, different each playthrough
  • 7 permadeath challenges with an online leaderboard
  • Pets that offer to fight alongside you with their own AI
  • Beautiful Game Boy-inspired pixel art
  • Meaningful narrative (under development)
  • Chiptune soundtrack composed by Warfreak2

Lenna’s Inception is an early access title! That means things will be broken from time to time and many of the most interesting features haven’t been finished yet. If you don’t like that, please wait for its release at the end of the year before buying.

moneyCurrently the game is in beta and costs just £2.99 (approximately $5.13 USD). On release, the price will bump up to £5.99. You can buy the game on here.

We’ve had a bunch of fun with it, so check out the beta trailer below and give it a try. :)

Happy Friday!

We’ll have our regularly scheduled Starbound updates tonight as well, but the Wanderlust and Witchmarsh teams are doing exciting things so I thought I’d let you in on those.

YetiTrunk has unleashed their wonderful Wanderlust Adventures debut trailer upon the world! Check out all that 4-player co-opy, character customize-y, action adventure RPG goodness!

Meanwhile, Wanderlust: Rebirth has been featured in YoYoGame’s GameMaker showcase, which is worth checking out as well!

Witchmarsh has just over two days left on its Kickstarter! It’s getting really close to its £90k stretch goal, which will unlock The Alchemist as a playable character, as well as 10 more player abilities. Let’s give it that last big push! I’d personally love it if we could unlock the next stretch goal– Freelancer mode. :D
