Weekly Wallpapers now Monthly!

Hey guys!

The wallpapers are going to be released at the beginning of every month, rather than every week.
This schedule will work out a little better, because I’ll have more time to make sure the wallpapers are extra awesome!

So see you guys in May! In the meantime, have a SPACE BUNNY!

Probably not. But at least with monthly wallpapers, the front page won’t end up being SATURATED with wallpapers. There should at least be one non-wallpaper post every month.

It’s not laziness though, I promise! The other devs are working really hard on Starbound. It’s just that they don’t want to give out too much information too soon.

Ah, okay. The Wallpaper of the Weeks were like the only thing posted on the front page, but I understand that it’s not laziness. As a fellow (abeit muh less talented) artist, I realize how it’s rather hard to keep up a constant, fast pace for doing work. It would take me like a year to make an entire wallpaper just half as good as one of yours. Haha, in art, there’s a fine line between quality and time, how you have managed to do both astonishes me.
P.S. I’m working on the less sketchy way of drawing, but none of my practices are worth showing you yet. I’ll try to do a good one soon.

That’s pretty much what I just said about… 5 minutes ago. Haha. Giving away too much effectively ruins the game, loses the audience, and is overall bad for everyone.

I think fetalstar put it best. I may be excited about Starbound but my soul doesn’t depend on knowing everything about it. If your life depends on it then I suggest you take a break from the internet.

Plus, “soon” is a relative term. It doesn’t exactly say WHEN.

Though having monthly pictures might not be a problem. While they do want us to know about it and keep us interested, it’s hardly in their best interest to post TOO much because then they spoil everything. Which is no fun.

Yeahh… I’m a little bummed that it’s going to monthly, too. But it’s for the best!
The weekend was the only time I really had to work on them, and weekends are my only days off from work. It didn’t leave me much time to relax or work on personal projects, so I started to stress out a lot.

The other upside is that I can work on it a little bit over the course of the month, so in the end, the wallpapers could end up being a little sharper/ better quality. Like the earlier ones. c:

Besides, the front page was getting REALLY full of just wallpapers. So hopefully with them being released monthly now, there might be a news post in between them, to help break it up! XD

Great, the only thing keeping my interest up on this game is being delayed, I’m going to completely forget about this game in a month….. Which is sad, cause it looks awesome, but there isn’t enough content here yet.

This is depressing. More depressing than my grandmas funeral. Of course that wasnt that depressing i was happy she had left this earth and had gotten some well deserved peace of mind. She went crazy a few years ago before her death, it was better she died. She never wanted to lose her head too bad it happened though. But ya this is very depressing.

I mess around with computer graphics as well and I understand that it can be very time consuming and even harder to keep a constant flow of work coming out. So no arguments here having it changed to monthly!

Also, that bunny by itself is wallpaper material :P. I have a half a mind to just slap that thing on a white/black background so i can look at it’s cuteness every day :P

So, While I enjoy the heck out of the weekly wallpapers, Im actually not surprised at this – I was wondering how long you’d be able to keep up that manic pace! When you post em, we will enjoy em, I think most of us understand that you guys are actually making a game, not a wallpaper gallery and this probably means you have other pressing business to attend to! That said.. a Starbound trailer or some footage would really be a happy thing to toss our way when you can.. I cant imagine im alone in salivating for this game – loved Terraria, will be all over whatever ReDigit follows it with and all, but this… this looks to be the game to stomp em all. I cant wait and any updates you fine folks care to share with us will be eagerly digested here! Thanks much for all so far, and best of luck with whats to come!

I can’t believe this behaviour, people.
The devs are opening up this information channel just because they want you to be able to follow along with the development.
We should be glad there is ANY information at all – they could have kept this under the sheets until like the last few weeks.
Every moment spent messing around on the website or making videos is away from making the game, and Im sure they want to show us the best possible gameplay video to make up for the waste of time.

Bitching about it only makes the devs feel bad, which leads to them probably being less happy about making the game -> less enthusiasm to code or fix stuff -> slower progress -> even less possible gameplay vids or whatever.

Bottom line, stfu and do something else while waiting for gameplay.

I think the dev’s would have been expecting this sort of behaviour, and they’ll most likely be more enthusiastic because they know everyone can’t wait, even though they’re so early into making the game. Yes they could have kept this under the sheets but they’re doing it so more people can buy and enjoy the game. If they didn’t show us then people wouldn’t be interested as we’d hardly know anything about the game, and we couldn’t decide for ourselves whether it would be good or not. Another reason they’re getting the community involved is because we give them important feedback for the game. The game isn’t aimed at developers, but the public.
