Sorry, I interpreted the Poptop as “wearing” a “dress”. Like in the sprite that was made. And the other renditions of the Poptop in the design sheet.
Also, like I tell EVERYONE who pesters me about the media page, I have no control over website things. The web people were supposed to make an app to make posting multiple resolutions easier. Something about it looking “slick.” Please contact JR and tastycrumpet with web concerns.
And spread the word. Everyone seems to think that, because I do the wallpapers and post them, I’m in charge of everything involving them.

I like to think that Poptops have dewclaws. So in their disguise forms they have three claws and one tiny claw, but when they reveal themselves they have hands with the dewclaw becoming a thumb.
This is just insulting. All those great entries and the most unoriginal of them all won. Now we get some shitty wallpaper that showcases the very worst of the entries. For shame.
Excuse me, but what the heck is your problem? All these are just as original as the others, and the artist did a great job on this wallpaper. If you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut.

I have nothing against the artist themselves. I have a problem with the subject matter of the wallpaper. Also, I won’t keep my mouth shut. It’s called criticism, and if you don’t like it, you can either grow some balls or shut your bitch face.
I like how both of you are complaining over things you will NEVER EVER have any control over, so I think its best if you just shut the fuck up and move on with your lives.
I’m sorry, I thought criticism was supposed to be helpful. Not offensive. Calling something shitty and unoriginal isn’t criticism. That’s just opinion. But whatever, I don’t want to cause any trouble here, I was just trying to defend the makers of these.
That’s not criticism. Criticism would suggest that you actually said
something *intelligent* pertaining to an evaluation of the faults or
merits of the art. Instead, you are, just like the last idiot, stating a
stupid and uneducated opinion. If anything, at least the creations are far more original than your trolling tactic.
Of all the things the creatures are, you completely miss the gameplay
value they’ll add to the game and instead focus on their
‘unoriginality’. Bad moon was an interesting idea, although… well, it
grosses me the hell out. Virorbs would add a whole new dimension of
gameplay when it comes to fighting, especially if you’re fighting a
mixed group of mobs along with a virorb. Poptops are adorable and barely
look anything like a freaking Mawile. This wasn’t an ‘Original Art’
contest. It was a ‘Create a creature for our game’ contest. You might as
well have criticized Terraria in this thread by saying ‘Slimes are
unoriginal creatures’. It would have had about the same effect as what
you’re saying now.
You’re inciting a disturbance by planting flame bait. It was effective, as it got somebody to rage at you, but nevertheless makes you look like a complete tool.
Besides, you’ll end up playing the game when it comes out anyway. Why even bother complaining about the creatures you’re going to end up fighting a few months from now?
Ohoho. Where to begin?
First of all, you seem to think that just because, at least from your point of view, my criticism is “stupid and uneducated,” that does not automatically make it not criticism. Second of all, I probably should have made this clearer, I’m talking about the Poptop. I happen to love both Bad Moon and Virorbs. Also, you assume that, by posting my opinion, I’m using a trolling tactic, and planting flame bait. Of course, if that WERE true, then you would look like a colossal retard by replying seriously to it.
You know, I checked back, and I couldn’t help but notice that the only thing people were accusing of being a ripoff happened to be the Poptop. Tons of people were complaining about the Poptop being ripped off wholesale from Mawvile. However, I couldn’t seem to find anyone raging about the Virorbs, Bad Moon, Fractals, or any other entry being a ripoff. Infact, the only people accusing other entries of being ripoffs were people who were defending the Poptop. Oh, but no, it’s purely coincidence that the Poptop is the only one getting bashed.
Lastly, because you seem to get your panties in a bunch when somebody posts criticism that isn’t constructive, here are a couple ways that I believe the Poptop could be made better:
1. Make it not look almost exactly like a pokemon.
2. Give it a gimmick that isn’t the exact same gimmick of the pokemon it looks like.
I hardly call the Poptop a ripoff all ideas come from somewhere, not only that but now days everything looks like a Pokemon.
I’m taking kazzmadd’s side in this discusion. But “Annonymous”, you say poptop looks like a pokemon, well i would say that makes it even more original. i’m a pokemon lover, and i think that poptop souldve been a pokemon. it’s much more original and cooler than these new ice cream cones and stuff.
Oh and, Kazzmadd. I would rather say that pokemons looks like everything these days.

You should have more of those contests. If each contest resulted in monsters as unusual and wonderful as Bad Moon….the game would quickly become very alien and diverse.

Tell me – Terraria didn’t have many original monsters, either.
Slimes, zombies, skeletons, bats, unicorns, harpies, dragons, demons, imps.
You can see all of those in most, if not all, classic roguelikes.
Why dont you just think of this as a “new” terraria, or hope they’ll work on terraria afther this?
I like terraria too. But this looks very very very fun.
Nothing is original about this game. I dont see why people are so excited.
This game is full of originality, mixed in with elements that have been used, but are nontheless synergistic with the theme of the game.
I can think of two, maybye three games following the whole block world thing, notably, Terraria and Minecraft. How does this game using this concept-and adding tons of twists, such as the spaceship and station-make it uninteresting? This game is at least 50x as creative as Call of Duty. And Terraria’s time has come, it was an amazing game, but this will be an improvement on it. The sprites are better than Terraria, the monsters are more diverse, the items will be more interesting, not to mention all of the customization.
You will regret these words when this game will come out and become the best indie game of 2012.
Or at least, one of the best indie games.
And what, Modern Warfare 3 was original?

If the game is a paid version I will crack it for other which cannot afford this game. I care about the poor people. But I care for the developer too, so I will buy Starbound to support developers.
I don’t believe in pirating because you can’t afford if, I pirate to try it before buying it so that I don’t waste money on a crap game. Also why I think betas and demos are good. But this is just my thought on the matter.
Poor people wouldn’t even have money to buy a computer and internet… Also, just buying the game yourself and letting hundreds of get it for free, isn’t gonna help the developers much at all. In fact, cracking the game will just earn them way less money to continue developing the game. Think about that.
